This handy set contains: 1) A Bahco (formerly Sandvik) Swedish Steel Cabinet Scraper. This 2 1/2" x 6" cabinet scraper made in Sweden is the most sought-after scraper in the woodworking trade. Formerly sold under the "Sandvik" name, it has the right thickness (0.85 mm) and hardness (around 60 on the Rockwell Scale) for long scraping operations without the need for resharpening. It is supplied with a plastic sleeve for safe storage without damaging the sharp edges. 2) A Burnishing Tool. We have found that this machinists smoothing tool works very well as a burnisher for "turning the edge" on cabinet scrapers. With an overall length of 4" and about 2" of concave shaped hardened steel tip (about 65 on Rockwell Scale) it really produces the cutting burr on a dull scraper edge after just a few strokes. The price is very reasonable too. 3) A Wooden Cabinet Scraper Holder. This holder is an idea companion to the cabinet scraper described above. It's comfortable grip greatly reduces the fatigue caused by pushing a bent scraper over wood. The fingers stay out of harms way of the heat produced by the scraping operation. The bow of the scraper produced by the wooden nut remains consistent for a uniform finish. |
