Waterstones are essential in the workshop to keep the chisels, plane irons, and other cutting tools at their sharpest. They are relatively inexpensive and fast sharpeners. Now the Norton campany, the largest producer of waterstones in the USA, has a low cost easy to use method for all grits of waterstones.
The coarse grit, silicone carbide, is engineered for superb flatness with a very hard bond, promoting maximum cutting while the diagonal grooves provide a swift removal exit during the process. For best results bring the waterstone to the flattening stone while keeping the surface wet. The size of the stone is a robust 9" X 3" X 3/4", and a plastic storage case is provided.
