Synthetic ceramic is the second hardest material known to man, only diamond being harder. Their hardness make the ceramic sharpening stones preferable to other stones as they can cut the hardest metals without wearing out. The drawback of early ceramics have been their brittle nature. The recent advances in heat treatment have resulted in tougher ceramic material to such an extent that bullet-proof vests are made from it. Our Ceramax-80tm tips are made at a small factory in the state of New York which specializes in making ceramic tools for cutting the toughest metals. These tips will give you clean cuts without the need for sharpening for long periods. These can be re sharpened by hand using fine diamond slip stones. At present we have three tips available for wood turners.
